
Earthquake Strikes Southeastern Afghanistan 🌍
 Jakarta, September 2, 2025 –A powerful 6.0-magnitude earthquake hit southeastern Afghanistan on Sunday night, August 31, affecting thousands of people in Kunar, Nangarhar, Laghman, and Nuristan provinces. Over 600 houses were destroyed or severely damaged, leaving thousands of residents, were reported affected, with many injured and left homeless. Several roads were cut off by landslides, hampering search and rescue operations.
In several districts, such as Chawkay and Nurgal in Kunar Province and Dara-e-Nur in Nangarhar Province, the situation remains dire. Many residents were forced to walk for hours to find safety or access medical assistance. Local authorities have evacuated the injured to hospitals in Jalalabad and Asadabad and deployed heavy machinery to reopen blocked roads.
