A bridge connecting Solok to Arosuka, used daily by thousands of residents, workers, and schoolchildren, is gone under metres of mud, severing a lifeline this community depended on. An estimated 100 homes have been destroyed or damaged. Around 50 people including children and the elderly are now displaced, sheltering wherever they can find space: a police station, a government residence, a community hall. Many left with nothing but the clothes they were wearing.
